we have stayed here the last 3 years for a family get together. we have had a wonderful time there lots of room for us all and the game room and hot tub is always a hit! Great riding trails close for walking or 4 wheeling. We hope to return next year. The Bertram Clan:
Just had the most amazing weekend at the Ponderosa Hills vacation home. We had 21 people with us and other family that just visited through out the day. Can't say enough about the room that this place has as well as amenities. What a memory maker it was for us. We will most definitely be doing this again next year! We have found our new annual vacation spot! The Delton and Stubby Herman Family...Wayne, Cindy, Warren, Carrie and Jeanie:
Our family gathered for our first Christmas celebration under one roof in many, many years. Our 50th Wedding Anniversary was recognized. From two sons and 3 daughters, the Herman Clan has grown to fill the entire 8 bedroom home. Cousins reconnected, little ones met, and new acquaintances became friends. A motel could never provide the cozy atmosphere experienced with the Ponderosa Hills Lodge. On a chart of one to ten, the lodge would be over the top. A nicely decorated Christmas tree, comfortable beds, completely well-stocked kitchen, etc., etc., etc, made our stay great. adrienne kaufmann:
This place is a cadillac among lodges! The pictures are wonderful, and make the place seem very inviting. The reality is even better! We had a family reunion there. We filled the place - yes all 18 bed-spaces, and everyone from the eldest (in 70's) to the youngest (a toddler) had a grand time. The large propane grill really appealed to the guys. The very thoroughly furnished kitchen gave all the women a sigh of relief. The spacious hot tub with sprayers, lights and music gave everybody some happy moments, especially the teens and young adults. The loft was perfect for a family of 6, and gave them a place to keep the kids organized. The abundance of towels, the beauty of the decor, the natural beauty of the outdoors, the exercise bike, enough bathrooms, enough table space for everyone to have a place, the game room equipped with family games too. There was nothing missing! An incredible bargain. Thank you! Janice Martens:
My large family stayed at Ponderosa Hills to celebrate a 50th Birthday and it was nice to have such a large group all in one cabin. The 8 bedrooms fit nicely for our group, with my folks and 7 of us siblings each having a room. It's located in a beautiful surrounding with lots of deer to watch! I would recommend this place to large groups for sure! Colleen Mallett:
A beautiful place to stay. Very clean, the master suites are awesome. The game room is great for the kids. The garage works very well to hang our snowmobile gear and it is dry by morning. Because it is a heated garage. Great place to stay! Jeremy Espland:
My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Ponderosa. It allowed us to have a great west river vacation with all comforts of home. I would HIGHLY recommend booking with ponderosa to anyone wanting to vacation or just get away. Laura J. Leenderts:
Ponderosa Hills is a very nice vacation home and perfect for a large group. We stayed with 16 snowmobilers in January and had a great time. The house is very well equipped for a large group, with plenty of bed space, bathrooms, table space, and kitchen/cooking supplies. The heated garage was awesome for when we came in from sledding, with plenty of room to hang our gear. The location couldn't be better, as we could ride either through the pasture or along the highway to get to Trailshead and/or the trail system. Paul Levijoki:
Our mens group had the priviledge of experiencing a three day three night stay at Ponderosa Hills. It was an ideal setting and perfect location for our Christian mens motorcycle ride. We used the Ponderosa for our basecamp to ride the Hills during the day and spent the evenings relaxing in the hottub and had our bible sessions and discussions. Was great to have the facilities to cook our breakfasts and evening meals. Usually we have to stay in motels so this was great that it accomodated all thirteen of us with room to spare. Our rides take us to some nice places but the ride from the Ponderosa to Spearfish through the canyon is probably the nicest and most awe inspiring ride we have been on. The serenity and safety of the Ponderosa off of main highway was a big plus as we did not have to worry about the bikes being messed with. Was also nice to have the garage to put some of the bikes in of those who wanted to. Just a great place and reasonable for our group. Thanks and see you again Paul Adam Fritz:
It's a very nice place to stay, back in the hills away from the hustle of Rapid City. Very relaxing and quiet... lot's of wildlife (deer especially) to watch in the morning or late evening.
